Bugs

The librarian liked the flowers I have been bringing in lately but she felt if I'd just put them in water they would last longer.  Tried explaining that daylily blooms only last one day - water or no water - but she wasn't convinced.  The library shares a building w/ the Village Hall and the assistant there also liked my bouquets.   She asked if I ever had extra daylily plants she would love to have one.  Saw my opportunity!  I dug up a Bela Lugosi daylily - deep violet w/ a green throat.  I love the color but it has large bloom stems that are too thick to fit in my daylily vase openings.  I brought it into the library and put the plant in it's container in the librarian's office.  She took note that it had two blooms when I brought it in.  Today I checked in w/ her.  The old blooms had shriveled up but there were two more buds open.  She was convinced that daylily blooms do indeed last only one day even under the best of circumstances.  Tonight the village hall assistant picked up the plant from the librarian's office on her way home after work.  Happy ending for everyone.
