Thornapple Dam

At the B&B we were having breakfast and I was telling the story of the county clerk giving the town clerks 'gold stars' when they handed in election materials w/o any mistakes in the paperwork.  It might seem like she was treating us as if we were in 1st grade but it worked wonders since we all wanted them.  Maybe Marty, the B&B owner, overheard us because he pasted a 'gold bar' on Nancy's forehead for cleaning her plate and a 'red bar' on Kathy's saying it was"for effort".  I had already gone upstairs by then so missed out.  However today as I waited in the grocery store's checkout line an employee said I could checkout immediately if I used the self-checkout registers.   Those things can be tricky and I wasn't eager to do it but she had a point that I wouldn't have to wait.  The person assigned to helping people w/ the automated machines gave me her undivided attention.  I stopped by her desk as I walked out to thank her and she slapped a happy face sticker on my shoulder.  I like stickers as a reinforcement of that feeling of accomplishment.  By the way, putting stickers on cats only drives them bonkers.

Ah! The reason I am afraid to drive over bridges. Hopefully it has been upgraded since the days of the school bus ride.
