Parahelion

King Henry VI Part III Act II Scene I

Edward: Dazzle mine eyes, or do I see three suns?
Richard: Three glorious sun, each one a perfect sun;
Not separated with the racking clouds,
But sever'd in a pale clear-shining sky.

This is a reference in Shakespeare of parahelia (a/k/a sundogs).  Funny thing is I have a set of the Annotated Complete Works of Shakespeare and there isn't anything in the notes about what the above passage is referring to. I'm tempted to write my own note in the book.   Only reason I didn't do it already is it's a real hard thing for a library volunteer to mark up a book - even their own.
