Wild Sarsaparilla flowers

Volunteered at the library last night. Normal activity, people on the computers, kids waiting to get picked up after school, people checking out books they had ordered.  A grandmother, leaning heavily on a cane, came to my desk and asked where was the paranormal romance section? We do have a Harlequin section but nothing specific to ghosts, werewolves, ogres, and the like. Fortunately, she had a favorite author. I showed her where that author's books would be located and was happy to see our library had quite a selection of her works on-site. While the woman considered her options, I typed 'paranormal romance' into the library search engine and found it is a recognized genre and that our library had books by other authors. I picked one off the shelves. When the lady came back to my desk w/ her selections, I asked if she might be interested in the book Vampires for Christmas. She was elated and checked it out also. So, two things. First, if you are looking for something specific, ask the librarian (or volunteer) for their help or suggestions. Even if they know nothing about the subject, they do know the library system. Second, an elderly lady that's into non-human love stories? Never judge a book by it's cover.
