Little maple tree
Volunteered at the library. A lady asked where was the coat collection site. She read a flyer that the old-grocery-store-turned-church in our town was collecting warm coats today. Hadn't heard anything about it and our old grocery store is becoming an auto store. She called the government offices where she had found the original notice but the person there hadn't heard of any coat collection and was unwilling/couldn't check the flyer on the board. I sent the lady over to the local Catholic church where I know they often have clothing drives. My next customer had a book to donate. He wanted to expound on the author for a moment and while I knew the book/author, I let him tell me all about him. Next were two people picking up books on the hold shelf. Always happy to get things off the hold shelf! A lady dropped off some old books, a guy picked up some new books. Then Mr. Wilder came in. He was very happy that it was me on the desk because, he said, I hadn't renewed two books the last time he was in and they were now overdue. I remembered our conversation from Wednesday. He'd turned in a bunch of books. Checked out a bunch of books. Said he still had two books at home. Didn't remember him asking for anything to be renewed. I waived the fines on the two books. Figured, even at the library, the customer is always right.
