Everyone from the dairy met at a local pizzeria tonight for a celebration. We've been doing very well this summer w/ SCC (Somatic Cell Count) numbers and the dairy wanted to reward us. Usually SCC goes up in the summer. I'm not sure technically why - assume the warmer weather allows bacteria to grow faster. Our counts have stayed pretty flat and under 100. So tonight Sergio, Domingo, and Benjamin (our mainstay Hispanic workers); Justine and Gary (weekend workers); me (weekday mornings); Adam and Mike (farm hands), Sephra (herdsman); and Carol and Eric (owners) all ate a lot of different kinds of pizza. Sephra's husband and daughter; Adam's significant other and son; and Mike's wife were invited also. Afterwards, I checked in on Aunt June since the nursing home is just across the road from where we were and then picked up groceries before the drive home.
