Mowing
I heard the tractor when I left the house for our walk today. It was racing across the lower field. I thought it might be coming up towards us so Indy and I didn't dawdle getting away. With a forecast of a few rainless days, my neighbor finished mowing the rest of his fields and was coming to do my fields next. The ground-nesting birds have fledged already since I see a lot more birds flying around and the fawns that the does sometimes hide in the tall grass are old enough (and smart enough) to get up and run away. However, rodents can get caught by the scythe or are at least more exposed and there were opportunistic eagles and vultures flying over the newly mown areas. When Indy and I came back from our walk, I put her on a leash I carry in the camera case. Even though Indy is very well behaved, I'm not one to take chances when the mower is in action.
