Ghost Pipe

The walk today went through the meadow, into a field, around in the woods, and back to the meadow.  I worked up a bit of a sweat while getting rid of some invasive plants I found along the way - creeping bellflower and small buckthorn trees.  Thought it would be too early to find ghost pipe plants but there was a small colony blooming in the woods.  When we got home, I hung up my camera case on some Shaker pegs and sat down.  That's when I notice the holster hung from the side of the case was empty.  I'd dropped my bear spray somewhere along the way.  I was pretty tempted to wait until tomorrow to look for it.  However, the field I'd walked through was raked and ready for bailing.  Any of the scenarios of I came up w/ if that spray was bailed up wasn't pretty.  So I and Indy went out again following the path of our previous walk.  Found the can by the buckthorn trees where it had fallen next to a log.  Home again, I called up my boss and told him I wouldn't be at the dinner.  The whole staff was going out to a Mexican restaurant tonight to celebrate our continuing low somatic cell count.  However, after two walks this afternoon, all I felt like doing was taking a shower, a nap, and then going to bed.

Cool plant. My Rattlesnake Master is blooming now which is cool. I mean how could you not buy something called Rattlesnake Master? Carolyn
