Cutleaf Toothwort

Our state legislature is discussing the latest budget proposal. One of the state reps has inserted a provision that any one w/ any bachelor's degree could be hired to teach 6th through 12th grade math, social science, English, or science classes. Everyone else, even a high school dropout but with relevant experience, could teach any other class. The state rep who put in this provision said it would help schools in rural areas find teachers. When I heard this on the nightly news, I started screaming at the TV. How dare they think rural kids could do w/ just anybody for a teacher. Did they think all of those classes in teaching techniques that are required for an education degree were not necessary? Just how stupid are the people we've put in government? Then I sat back in my chair and realized under this provision someone like me would qualify as a middle or even high school teacher. I did a tiny shudder - what a truly awful thought.
