The frost is going out. That means the top few inches of earth are mucky w/ thawed water but below it the ground is still frozen. As I tried to navigate around a low lying wet spot on the walk today I went into a slow slide as that top layer of mud slipped against the hard lower level of ground. I ended up in the very spot I had tried to avoid plus my left side was covered in mud. Thought I was unlikely to meet anyone on the rest of my tromp through the swamp and if I kept moving I could generate enough warmth to keep a chill off so Indy and I finished our walk. Once home though, I went in the front door, passed through the foyer into the laundry room. All of my clothes and even the camera bag went into the wash and I dressed in some sweats I keep on wall pegs in there. Good thing the house floor plan was created w/ just this kind of mishap in mind.
