Log Cabin door & window
I got my second disconnection notice from the electric company. This, I decided, was a bad thing for an all electric house. The notice last month was because the automatic payment system that had been working for over a year suddenly decided it couldn't access my e-mail account (which I've had for much longer than that). Instead of calling me, they just put a note out on their system. Well... it was the holiday season and I didn't notice that they hadn't notified me the payment was made. Hence, the first disconnection notice. I paid the bill directly. I cancelled the automatic payment system and signed up on-line for the electric company to take the payment directly out of my bank account. I got a disconnection notice today so sent the check out directly and then called the electric company. Oops... the customer rep said, their system had sent the notice in error and the payment was due to be taken out of my bank account on Friday. Worse, the amount that they were going to take out wasn't the same amount the notice I had received said was due. I bit my lip and didn't tell them their computer system sucked. Instead I said to chuck any form of automatic payment and send me a paper bill in the mail. I'll pay that way from now on. Seems so "old school".

I just canceled our newspaper delivery out of the same type of frustration. It just isn't worth the effort.
