Steeple
Went looking for comet Lovejoy last night. It's not a dusty comet so it is dim w/o a significant tail. Right now it's located near Orion and Taurus so easy to find the correct area of the sky to start looking. However, I realized there were high light clouds. Not thick enough to hide the first magnitude stars but enough to make it impossible to notice this comet. I was also looking forward to the conjunction of Venus and Mercury in the west right after sunset but clouds obliterated that too. Astronomers have a saying, "It's clouding up nicely." Means that, while it's disappointing not to be able to see the night sky, tonight we get to do something else.
