Old farm house
Cold again this morning. Cold enough that the dairy owners told us not to post-dip the cows so their teats would be dry as they walked back to the barn. We usually don't talk much at first while we are working w/ the hospital group of cows. There is much to do and we have to keep our mind on what is going on so we don't make a mistake. Carol, though, did say that her brother probably wouldn't live through the day. He'd been diagnosed w/ cancer this fall and it had been caught too late. The herdsman comes in a little later so the owners can go to do other chores. She's around somewhere if we find a problem while we milk and if she has time, like today, helps us w/ scrubbing down the parlor. Things went fast and we finished in good time. Eric stopped by just as we were ending to say that Carol's brother had passed away. Not the kind of start to the New Year that I had hoped.
