Gargoyles

Last Christmas party of 2014 this weekend. This is the one w/ the GNO (Girls Night Out) group. Last year we used the card game Authors. We each pulled a card out of the deck and the book on the card was the theme for our gift. Kathy had Shakespeare's The Tempest and gave me fused glass coasters (there was a lot of confusion in the play) and an ear-cuff in the shape of an octopus (the play takes place on a Mediterranean island). Kris had Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer and gave Nancy a paint brush (remember the white picket fence?) and from it dangled all sorts of things from the story, a frog memo pad, chewing gum, towels, etc. Nancy had Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. She gave Kathy a bottle of Italian wine and a cork saver cask (the story takes place in Verona). I had Nathanial Hawthorne's Tales for Boys and Girls and gave Kris a Northwood's Pandora's Box w/ stress relief (4 mismatched socks so you don't need to be worried if you can't find a matching pair), warmth (fire starters), smell of pine (voltives), taste (raspberry jam), etc. We seem to always find a way to find a gift for the theme (or manipulate the theme to fit the gift). Next year's topic - The 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
