My neighbors
I hadn't gotten verification from my new health insurance company that my coverage would begin January 1st so I sent them an e-mail. They responded that the information they received from Marketplace was that I didn't need coverage until Feb. 1st and if I wanted to change that I had to contact Marketplace. Great. I called up Marketplace and was on hold for 15 minutes. Got an agent who found my application and after a few conferences w/ his manager said I had two options. They could turn it over to a case worker but that might take a month or he could cancel my health insurance application and put in a new one to begin January 1st. I opted for the later and after a few more conferences w/ his manager he said my new application was in. All during our 20 minute conversation, the agent didn't go more than a few minutes w/o apologizing for my inconvenience. Since I wasn't upset, I'm assuming it's something they are taught to do to mollify the general caller. The original problem probably started because I answered some question incorrectly when I made the first application. Of course, I could always blame Marketplace for having such a convoluted on-line system in the first place. Yeah - I think I'll go w/ that.
