My apple tree

Youth deer hunt this weekend. My nephew asked if he and his son could hunt along the old railroad R/W. It's also a hunting season for me. Now that most trees have lost their leaves and those remaining leaves are turning colors, it is a good time to look for buckthorn. Buckthorn is a particularly invasive tree. It stays green much longer than the native trees so sticks out this time of year. If I find a tree, I pull it up if it's still small or break all of the branches so I can find the tree again during the winter and cut it out. Found two today. Tonight I'm digging little bits of wood out of my palms. They aren't called "buckthorn" for nothing.

If you cut any Buckthorn, remember to put some stump killer chemicals on the cut. Otherwise they grow back 2-3x thicker the following year.

Would you like overnight guests on Nov. 2? I'm giving the sermon in Plum City that morning and thought we could hop over to Bruce afterwords.
