View from the ski hill

I knew I was low on gas last night but figured I would get some today sometime. Went downtown to meet friends, Don and Nancy, for lunch. Then we drove to the ski hill. This weekend is the area's annual autumn festival and the ski hill opens up for leaf peeping. They run the chair lift to the top of the hill so people can get a view of the fall colors. Afterward Nancy and I came back to my house so she could use my computer for awhile. When she was done w/ her work I gave her a lift home through the hills. On my way back I decided to go into town to pick up a pizza for supper. I was about ten miles from town when the idiot light came on reminding me that I had better also pick up gas. So I ordered the pizza first, said I would come back for it, and drove to the gas station. Every pump had a cover on it. I walked into the office and they confirmed - No Gas. This is the only gas station in town. My options were to go 7 miles to the west to the next small town which also had only one gas station or go 15 miles to the east to a town w/ multiple stations. Prayed the station to the west wasn't also out of gas and that the gas I had would last long enough to get there and took off. Everything ended well - even got back in time to pick up a hot pizza.

You used to have an older brother who would say "I have enough to get home". One time he only got a half block away on his way to work before he walked back to the house. Good thing we had a 2nd car at that time. JVM

Neat vibrant leaf colors! Colors in SE MN pale in comparison.
