Hummingbird

First frost last night. I knew it was going to get cold but didn't realize it would be that cold. I left out the herbs, geraniums, and cactus on the deck. Probably didn't freeze hard so I'm hoping everything will survive the little nip. Early in the season for a frost. Another strange thing is I've still got hummingbirds. There were two fighting over the feeder this morning. Usually they are all gone by Labor Day from here. I got on-line to see what might be the issue. Each site I visited assured me that some hummers born late in the year or perhaps injured, will wait a little longer before they take off. The sites assured me the little guys will appreciate me leaving the feeder for them to fatten up on. Turned on my heat last night too - just to check that it works. Well, it isn't so I'll have to figure out who to call to get that fixed before I really need it. In the meantime, I got out the electric blanket. I think Fall has fallen.

Our hummingbirds are still here, too. A male and female and a third, smaller one. Unusual.

We saw our first hummingbird here about a month back. Since then I've seen a few. We don't have a feeder, but they seem to like one of our flower baskets.
