Water Horehound
Possibility of rain this afternoon so decided to mow the lawn. My lawn is quite green - mostly because it is made up of native grasses and other plants. I also don't mow it really short - 3" is my usual. My mowing technique probably isn't up to a lawn fanatic's standards either. I carefully avoided a few of the blooming orange hawkweed plants peeking up through the grass. I also stopped the mower often to let tiny little peeper frogs and newly hatched crickets get out of my way. I'm not that soft hearted (well, actually I might be) but they are a part of the ecosystem that is my lawn and I see no reason to disrupt it more than necessary. Afterward, I sat on the deck watching butterflies come in to suck nectar from the flowers and listening to the frogs & crickets. Life is good.

Thanks for being kind to the frogs and crickets! I did the same thing couple days ago while mowing my lawn.
