Red sky at morning, sailors take warning

Worked at the library today. A lady came to the desk and said she needed to laugh and wanted to read something humorous. I got on the system and did a search on "humorous". We found two books in the juvenile section that she said she had read as a child but wanted to reread, one book in the non-fiction section about dealing w/ bears, and three authors in the fiction section that I had read and could vouch for as funny. At least she was happy when she left the library w/ her stack of books. Next a lady came to the desk and explained she was reading a series by an author but our library didn't have all the books in the series. Would I help her order them? Another on-line search. My data analyst gene kicked in and I started writing down the book titles in the order that they were written and putting a open circle next to those she hadn't yet read and a filled-in circle next to those she has. Those she asked me to order for her, I half filled in the circle. She,too, left the library w/ a smile and clutching the list. Another successful episode of the ongoing saga "Susan Mayer - Library Volunteer".
