Snow

I think I was "shined" tonight. (No, it's not a derivation of being "mooned"). I'd planned on a short walk but Indy and I were enjoying the snow and just kept going. By the time we headed home it was getting dark. We were cutting across the top of a hill in an open hayfield when a far off bright light suddenly shone up toward us. It came from my neighbor's gravel pit and earlier I'd seen vehicles there. At first I assumed someone had started up a truck. However, no vehicles were facing our direction and there was only one light. I remembered seeing cars drive slowly down the road at night, bright, hand-held lights shining into fields to spot deer. (Referred to as "shining deer" it's another buck-fever activity.) From the distance of the gravel pit, I was only a dark moving shape against a grey sky. After a few moments the light went out. Next walk I'm wearing my blaze orange.

Does Indy have a blaze orange vest too? She's a dear but could be mistaken for a deer.
