Cousins Rick and Dawn

You would have been jealous of me yesterday. It was already sprinkling rain when Indy and I started the walk. (No, don't think you'd be jealous of a wet walk.) I headed straight for the sphagnum moss swamp. The mosquitoes were horrendous. (No, you wouldn't be jealous of walking through that gauntlet either.) Through the muck and mire, mist and mosquitoes, I found the pink lady's slipper orchids in bloom! Adding to that the star flowers, false lily-of-the-valley, and bunchberry were flowering everywhere. Even the cinnamon ferns had put up tawny spires. A magical day in the swamp.
