Bottom shell of a Painted Turtle

Found this little turtle on the path. It was headed for Gorgeous Gorge. My guess is it was coming from Arrowhead Pond which would have been a long haul for such a little turtle, all uphill, through dangerous terrain. The top shell of the Painted Turtle is just a plain olive green. I turned the turtle over to get a picture of her more colorful lower shell. Then as payment for letting me take her picture, I carried her the rest of the way to the edge of the water on Gorgeous Gorge. As soon as her feet touched water she was anxious to be free. Hope she does well in her new home.

Neat markings! I'm sure "thank you's" echoed through the woods for your gracious actions.
