Almost ready to fly

Not too hot here yet and we've had plenty of rain so the woods and fields are lush. The ticks are still pretty bad. The count of ticks that I picked up on my clothes was in the 70's today. I walk through some areas frequented by deer and that's where I get most of them. Indy and I came across a ruffed grouse and her chicks. They were just able to fly and one chick flew awkwardly past my head. One wasn't fast enough and Indy had squab for dinner - feathers and all. I called her to stay w/ me and we walked on down the path. Far enough to give the rest of the chicks a chance to get away and the grouse family could regroup. Walked past this tree swallow nest and noticed that one of the chicks was either too hot staying inside w/ everyone else, thought he would get first chance at food brought back by the parents, or was just curious to see what the great wide world looked like.

Who checks your back and 'other areas' for woodticks?
Reminds me of the romantic country song by Brad Paisley - 'I'd Like to Check You for Ticks' Ha!
