WARNING: Contents of this blog entry are scatological in nature. The Guernsey cows I grew up around are a laid back breed. The Holsteins I work w/ now are much more flighty. When a Holstein cow is upset, surprised, or afraid, the first thing she does is poop. Cows are ruminants so are in a constant state of being capable of pooping. If something unexpected happens in the parlor, all sixteen cows will immediately poop en masse. Therefore, one must be quiet and gentle when moving them around. I make it a game to see how many cows I can get in and out of the parlor w/o anyone pooping. In a way, it's not unlike my old job when I managed people.
