The town hall comes down this week. It started out as a one room school house serving an area by a large lumber company. When the lumber company left, they deeded the school house and one acre of land around it to the township. It's been our town hall for over 100 years but now it has come to a point where it can't be fixed anymore. We held the election on Tuesday, the November town board meeting on Thursday, and on Friday I had the last meeting in the old building. By then, the board had removed all of the records and furniture into storage and anything salvageable was being reclaimed. I brought my own card table and the poll workers stood around it as they counted the late arriving absentee ballots. I'm glad the building won't be left to fall in on itself. Would prefer to remember her like this.
