Quaking Aspen

Took this picture a couple of days ago. Have had overcast and rainy days since. While I hate walking in cold rain, I always appreciate the showers we get just before the ground freezes. This is the moisture the plants will have to get a start in the spring. The snows we get cause a blanket to protect the ground from freezing too deep but in the spring when it melts, the ground is still frozen and most of the water runs off. Sure, it's useful when it runs into reservoirs like Gorgeous Gorge but much of it ends up in creeks and rivers that flow away from the area. Therefore, while it was sprinkling during the walk Indy and I took yesterday and my pant legs were soaked up to the knees from walking through tall grass, I was in a good mood. Well ... also locating a great tree I could cut for Christmas might have also had something to do w/ it.
