Chipping Sparrows

Got an e-mail from my niece Becky today. Especially noteworthy since she lives on the East Coast where Hurricane Sandy is reeking havoc. She said they are far enough inland that the ocean surges didn't reach them but not in the mountains where feet - not inches - of snow fell. Their power flickered on and off all day but so far so good. Her husband went into work today though her work and the local school were closed. Her young son Ian's biggest concern is that Halloween might be cancelled. In his world, that would be the real catastrophe.

Good news! Halloween went on as scheduled and all the neighborhood kids were relieved. (and probably suffered from stomach aches from all the candy, too!)
Thanks to everyone in the family for the emails and phone calls checking up on us! :-)
