Ever notice that the subject of the book you are currently reading comes up in the news or your life? I first noticed it while I was reading "Inca Gold" while in Spain. The story takes place in Mexico but keeps referring back to events in Spain. Earlier this year I read a biography of Elizabeth II and now is the celebration of her Diamond Jubilee. Just finished a book on the Borgia family (a story of papacy intrigue and treachery at the turn of the 16th century) and in the news is a cardinals betrayal of the current Pope's trust. If I was a more superstitious person, this pseudo deja vu might be enough to put me off reading murder mysteries.
