A young man asked the dairy owners if he could drive his ATV across their land. It would be a shorter route for him to reach trails instead of using the roads. The owners said no. The man had just been released from jail for stealing, was wearing an ankle monitor, and the state still had him on an 8 pm curfew. Despite being told no, he went ahead and rode across the their property (they could follow his tracks through the snow back to his house). The owner's reminded him that he could not ride on their land and he apologized profusely. Just doing penance for a crime doesn't mean that everything is back to normal. Trust takes time and work. However, I'm thinking that getting the trust of the community back is likely to be the least of this guy's problems.
