Samoa is cancelling this Friday. They are doing it because they are moving the International Dateline to the east of their island. This way they will be in sync w/ their biggest trading partners of Australia and New Zealand. Currently they lose two business days because their Friday is New Zealand Saturday and their Sunday is New Zealand Monday. Reminded me of when Europe changed from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar in 1582. They "cancelled" 10 days then. Countries and people didn't take well to the change and it took centuries for all of Europe to convert. Maybe the conversion would have gone smoother if they had just cancelled Mondays for a couple of months.
