Every week I check the bird houses my brothers put up. Have a picture just like this one from last week. The eggs hatched about then and this tree swallow just sits in the entrance whenever I come near. So I haven't checked that nest - not going to mess w/ a dad this close to Father's Day! The count for the first brood of the year is 10 bluebird hatchlings, 22 tree swallow hatchlings, and 6 tree swallow eggs. I can't swear there is a connection but was sitting out on my deck enjoying the sunset tonight and realized that there weren't any mosquitoes. Maybe the birds are working overtime w/ all of those extra mouths to feed. How much better life would be if only we could get them to eat ticks!
