Checked out the movie "Troy" starring Brad Pitt from the library. Not a big Pitt fan but I do love the Iiad so watched the movie w/ some interest. OK, they took out all of the gods & goddesses. To me that's the fun part of the story but I understand there is a limit to how much you can pack into a film. They also telescoped the war down from the Iliad's 10 years to about a month. That's OK too. Those 10 years were just repetative battles w/ the Greeks defeating various allies of Troy anyway. Then Menelaus and Agamemnon die. As everyone knows, in the original tale, both survive to win the war - Menelaus takes Helen back and Agamemnon goes home (only to be killed by his wife and her lover but that's another story). Not too bad a movie but, as is usually the case, I liked the epic poem better!
