Amaryllis

Sorry, my blog finally ran out of space so had to delete some stuff before I could put in another entry. 

Bought this amaryllis as part of a gift for someone else 2 years ago.  However, though I kept the bulb in a paperbag, by the time I was ready to put it in a package, it had sprouted.  So I kept it, planted it, and over that Christmas it put on bloom after bloom.  That stem died back and another came up and bloomed.  That happened four times in all.  I was impressed.  Took it over to Aunt June so she could enjoy it also.  I've let it sit around the house since then.  (I have a little problem throwing out a plant that is still alive.)  It sends out long leaves and when they fall over, I hack them off.  Was surprised however, when it put on another stem and is blooming again.  It was an expensive bulb (relatively speaking) but I'm certainly getting a lot of enjoyment out of it.
