Remember there is no such thing as bad weather in the Norhwoods - just not enough clothing. It's snowed almost every day in January. The days it didn't snow, it was downright frigid. Therefore the proper clothing this time of year is dressing in layers (lots of layers), gloves, knit cap, tall boots, and skis/snowshoes. Also remember to put flannel sheets, two blankets, and a quilt/comforter on your bed. Adding spouses, close friends, and pets is a definite heat bonus (though maybe not all three at the same time.)
