The dairy owners, Eric & Carol, came back a bit early from the World Dairy Expo so the new herdsman had a chance to attend the last half of it. Eric is happy since he bought a new toy. Starlings are again being a problem in the barn. They like to roost in the rafters and their droppings can carry diseases. Pretty tough to shoot & disperse them inside the barn (tends to aerate the roof). At the Expo, he bought a tape of starlings in distress and was anxious to be setting it up after we finished milking. The tape contains sections of different types of starling distress calls interspersed w/ predator calls. One side is American starlings and the other is European starlings - guess even birds speak w/ foreign accents.
