White-faced Meadowhawk Dragonfly (Sympetrum obtrusum)
The day of the fair was cool, around 75 degrees, w/ a great breeze - perfect weather. We wandered through the Eco-Tech building learning tips of things to do around the house to save energy and be more friendly to the environment. Hit the Fine Arts building (not one of my fav's) but found an awesome picture of a dragonfly w/ dew on it's wings that Kathy, Kris, and I wished we had for our best-picture-of-an-insect-bet. Had a friendly contest in the Education Building of who could collect the most free pens & pencils from the various schools and organizations w/ booths there. Next through the Creative Arts buildings to view the baked goods/preserves/clothes/knitting/glass & wood projects - pretty much anything people like to make. Inspiring in a way. Down to the animal buildings to see the largest pig, watch the piglets run around, stroke a sheep, watch the cows get milked (the robotic milker was there for the 3rd year in a row but they still won't show how well it would work on a real cow.) Did (and ate) lots of other things and after 14 hours called it a day. More than a fair Fair.

I wish the WI state fair was that good! I think next year Steve and I will have to make plans to go.
