Orchids

I could see the fog forming over the open snow-covered fields yesterday afternoon and by nightfall it was thick enough to shroud the surrounding farm lights. This morning, the fog was palpable - appearing to hang as sheets in front of my headlights. The drive into work was very s-l-o-w and, in fact, I needed to stop whenever I knew a turn was coming up so I could find the roadway in the gloom. My house is grey in color because I always liked the idea that it would seem to disappear on a foggy day. Today, I could have painted it fluorescent orange and it still would have been invisible.
