Chinese Lantern Sun on a foggy morning

A rule of etiquette: When waiting in line (such as at the grocery checkout) it is never correct to ask the person in front of you if you can go ahead of them. I've had a lady tell me she had to go ahead of me because she'd left her grandchildren alone at home. I've had a man say that he had someone waiting for him so he needed to get out fast. In these cases, you should (as I did) refrain from hitting the offenders up-side the head. On the flip side though, it is perfectly acceptable to ask a person behind you if they would like to go ahead.

It always amazes me how some people think the rules don't apply to them. Why should your emergency constitute a problem on my part? Good grief!
