Pretty morning. I went out on the deck and listened to the Morning Chorus. It's beginning to sound pretty good though there are still some bird species that haven't returned. This morning I even heard the orchestra's timpani (i.e. thrum of a ruffed grouse beating it's wings). Expect, despite some more freezes, that the grasses will start greening soon. On my monthly list of to-do's is to tarp the firepit. I put down a tarp over the firepit area to inhibit green things from growing there. Could use herbicides but figure this way is close enough and there aren't any extra chemicals around when we roast wieners and marshmallows and later when the butterflies and snakes are checking the ashes. Also on the April to-do is maintenance on Jormungandar and Svaldifari. Did that in January since there was no snow and I could easily get them in and out of the buildings. I'm also suppose to take Whip to the vet for her Lyme's shot (did that) and put the bird houses back out. Usually wait until I see tree swallows have returned but I was over at the Dearhamer's yesterday and the track wasn't muddy. Took the opportunity to put the ones on their property in place along w/ the ones near the road. I have a separate list of things to do this year which includes getting the solar array up and running. Getting closer. Was messaged by the project supervisor that Xcel gave their OK. Think it's just the company's run through left before turn on.
