Thanksgiving Meal - soup course

Couldn't do justice to Thanksgiving in just one meal so once again I'm spreading it out across a few days.  I remember calling Mom up to find out which course came first - salad or soup.  She, having been a maid in Chicago, knew it was the soup that comes first.    The soup course is suppose to cleanse the palate and both whet the appetite and give the diner a 'full' feeling so they can daintily pick at the rest of the meal.  My soup this year was a cheesy wild rice soup.  Pretty sure any cream-based soup doesn't  'cleanse the palate'.  It's also a robust enough soup that afterward I and Whip were content to sit on the couch and watch an old black and white horror movie.   Glad I could enjoy it as a meal in itself plus get a jump on the Thanksgiving meal.

Seriously? I had a bunch of cooked wild rice left over from the dinner rolls and guess what I did with it. Of course, I made soup. Mine didn't have cheese but it was creamy. Again, "Great Minds".
