A few errands - I drove to Verizon to see if they could fix my phone. It no longer rings which, since I don't get that many calls anyway, isn't such a bad thing but kinda defeats the purpose of having one. While the guy worked on it, he asked me what I was going to do for the rest of the day. Strange question - probably just wanted to keep me busy while he did his thing. I listed off my other stops: the newspaper to pay a bill, Walmart to pick up some ribbon, the post office for stamps, the sheriff's department to make a donation for Shop-with-a-Cop, Grandpa's Pizza for some frozen pizzas, and Subway for lunch. By the time I had rattled them all off he was finished and put in a call to my phone to see if it rang. It did. When I pulled in by Walmart I was in a long line of slow moving cars that stretched around the perimeter of the parking lot and out of sight behind the building. I pulled off into the parking lot at my first opportunity and asked the greeter inside the door what was up. He said they were giving away free turkeys. He lowered his voice and confidentially told me they were almost all out of them so he didn't think those still in line would get one. The sheriff's department was all smiles when they realized I hadn't done anything that needed to be written up in a report. Got home and settled in to watch it snow. Nice to have a layer, even a thin layer, of snow on the ground.
