Finally, a Little Sunshine

Brent and Evelyn had told me there would be a package coming from Amazon but I forgot the post office is open only for an hour on Saturday and missed picking it up.  I'd have to wait until Tuesday morning when the post office was open again.   Yesterday, I retrieved the package and opened it.  Inside were three jars of scented slime (chocolate, lime, and blueberry).  Interesting.  New Age version of a lump of coal?  It was the kind of thing I would sent to my brother-in-law (the guy has never received a decent gift from me) but didn't think anyone else in the family was into sending odd presents.  I checked the address on the outside of the box - nope, that was my name and my post office box.  There was a note inside from Matthew Kalinowski stating "Wish we could be together this Xmas."  Hmmm.  If I knew a Matthew Kalinowski could be fun.   Got on the Amazon Gift page created specifically for this gift and dug around through connecting web links until I found a picture of what I think Evelyn and Brent actually ordered.  One last check - called Brent & Evelyn who verified that flavored slime was not what they had ordered.  The Amazon Returns website generated a code for me, instructed to just put things back in the box it came in (no need to repackage), and drop it off at a UPS store.  I had a few things to do in Collegetown so drove over this morning.   Only a short line at the UPS store.  When it was my turn, the clerk scanned the code, took the package, and said "Next".  No wonder the line was so short!   Checked the Return website which now indicated my package was on it's way back to Amazon.  I texted Brent the status (not sure whose account the money will be refunded to).  As a last step I went back to the  Amazon Gift page.  I'd noticed an option to send a Thank You note to Matthew Kalinowski.  Wrote a brief message that the his gift didn't make it to the intended recipient and sent it off.  Then sat back to follow the clues from this incident to try and figure out how Amazon picking & shipping works - almost as much fun as a jigsaw puzzle.
