Sun Pillar
It was 8:00 before Whip and I got out for our nightly constitutional. Then we were a quarter of the way out when I realized I'd forgotten to put Whip's vest with the running lights on her. Fortunately the combination of a little moonlight making it through the clouds and the snow cover was enough to clearly make her shape out. Guess I was still thinking about the town planning commission meeting I'd just returned from. We only had one permit for an addition to a house to consider - an easy approval. After that Leader Roger said we should figure out how to tackle the request last month from the Town Chairman to make the town it's own sanitary district. The county currently handles all of the towns within it's boundary. We had all been on-line and looked to see what it would mean for the town to take over control. I asked what was in it for the town? What problem were we solving? What would it cost? Only reason everyone agreed on was the town would grab more local control - i.e. It's part a pointless competition between the County Board and the Town Board. (I cleaned up the language a little.) I made a motion that the committee tell the Town Board this is a stupid idea. No one was willing to second it. So Roger gave each of us assignments. To his credit, Roger doesn't want a prolonged process but that we make a recommendation to the Town Board at the next meeting. I walked along w/ the dog tonight trying to figure out what happened to my powers of persuasion. At least my motion will make the minutes.
