Gun Deer Season began here today. Every time Whip went out, I snapped her into an orange vest. Deer tend to lay down and sleep during the day. Some hunters after sunrise decide to go home, warm up, catch a bite of lunch before going back out before dusk. I timed our walk for noon when I thought hunters would be the least active. I donned my blaze orange windbreaker and hat just in case. Figured I was being overly cautious. However all along the walk I could hear shooting - far off but distinct. Went downtown to pick up a pizza for lunch around 2. One hunter was seated in the bar. He was dressed in an odd mixture of camo and blaze orange. From what I could tell, I sincerely hoped he wasn't planning on driving out to the woods with a gun anytime soon.
