Autumn Shadowbox

Drove down to Collegetown early for my biannual oil change and rotation of tires.   I make these appointments as early as I can before the Service Area of the Subaru dealership can get backed up.  As usual the check-in person was solicitous and told me it would take 45 minutes - please make myself comfortable in the waiting area.  Before sitting down though I walked through the adjoining Show Room.  Once upon a time it was filled w/ the newest models but for the last three years they've only had pre-owned vehicles: first because of Covid and then because of the semiconductor shortage.  Plus I didn't know if Subaru - who makes cars in the U.S. - was affected by the latest Auto Workers strike.  (p.s. It's not.)  The cars I saw were 2020-2023 models w/ 'pre-owned' stickers on them.   Then, in the middle of the floor, there was a brand spanking new 2024 model.  Not a Forester like I have but still a glimmer that the auto industry was coming back to normal.  Back to the waiting area, poured myself a coffee from an urn labeled "Grogg" and picked out two cookies from the assortment of snacks available.  Sat down to listen to the news.  The check-out person (same check-in guy) let me know my car was ready, went through the paperwork w/ me, and walked me to the door in order to point out where my car was waiting.  I was listening to an audio book on the way down and thought I knew 'who-dun-it'.  On the way back was gratified to find that I was correct in my assumptions.  All in all, a very satisfying morning.
