Bee Balm a/k/a Bergamot a/k/a Monarda

Phil went out for a bike ride this morning.  Pretty morning - temp in the low 70's, no breeze, sunny but w/ some haze.  He didn't get far though when my neighbor Chris's dog ran out onto the road and bit him.  Blood was running down Phil's leg.  Chris was apologetic.  Phil took a pic of the wound and called 911.  They said they would contact Animal Control.  He told them he was staying at my place but they couldn't find my bame nor my address in their records.   (That's a little disturbing.)   Sheila cleaned and tended to the bite.    I got hold of Town Treasurer Michelle.  She has a list of all of the dogs in the town and their license info.  Dogs can't be licensed here without proof of a rabies vaccination.  Michelle however had no record of a dog being licensed from Chris since 2020.  She gets an update from the county of dogs in our town but it wasn't on that either.    Went over to Chris's and he found a copy of the payment for a county dog license from late last month.  I took a pic of that.  He said the rabies vaccination certificate might be around somewhere but it's his wife Kim that would know where it's at.  I asked for her to give me a call when she got home from church.  Kim did call back w/ a photo of the rabies vaccination and a pic of the metal tag given by the county registering their dog.  The vaccinatinon certificate includes a brief description of the dog and Phil said that sounded like the one that bit him.  He had called the local hospital and they said shots should be started within 72 hours of the bite and  they did have the vaccine on-site.  Now that he's seen the rabies certificate Phil feels that the dog that bit him has had it's rabies vaccination.  The county animal control will contact Chris about the dog - not sure what actions they will take.  I sent registration and certificate info on to Michelle for her info.  Phil won't go biking again today but may go tomorrow.  Brent asked (just in case mind you) what are the signs of rabies in humans?  I remembered the ending of 'Their Eyes Were Watching God'.  Related the pertinent info and for some reason that seemed to reassure him.
