Coffee mug
I decided to use Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. If you aren't familiar w/ this principle, very basically it states we cannot know both the position and speed of a particle with accuracy. It's an inherent quality of matter at a quantum level because of wave-particle duality behavior. So ... besides the hamburger masher I got free with a Pampered Chef order (which I didn't want but Kathy did) and a jar of local maple syrup which Kathy also expressed a desire for ... I gave her a large detailed book on Oceanography. Kathy lives near a beach and loves to take pictures of the varied surprises the sea delivers daily. I thought the book informative and it beautifully illustrated the ocean environment. The connection between the book and Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle? Both are about 'waves' (I know, a shameless play on words but it made me laugh.) Before we could leave we had to pick the next Christmas topic. Discussed and rejected a few ideas before trying out '5 adjectives'. We each wrote a different 12 adjectives on scraps of paper, put them all in a hat (actually my new cup), and pulled five at random. We didn't like those five so we pushed them aside and picked out another five. Didn't like those either. One of the adjectives pulled though was 'creepy'. We thought that one adjective would be a challenge and eventually we each added an additional adjective to add to it. So Nancy has to find a gift that is 'small' and 'creepy'. Kathy's looking for 'dazzeling' and 'creepy', I am doing 'whimsically creepy'. Am open to any gift ideas.
