A bit of a delimma tonight. I don't have a way to record TV shows and tonight at the same time it was a triple header: first was Svengoolie's 'horror movie of the week', then PBS's state channel was showing a new rendition of King Lear; and finally PBS's primary channel was showing a string of murder mysteries. Checked on which movie Svengoolie would be airing. It was Creature from the Black Lagoon. Sven seems to show that one every few months. The only really fun part of it is when one of the scientists postulates the creature came from the Devonian Period. I'm a sucker for Shakespeare so started to watch King Lear. This was described as a 'mixed-gender' version. Originally every character in a Shakespeare play was performed by a male. However, for the last few hundred years, women have played the female roles. I was curious what 'mixed-gender' meant. Turned out King Lear and some other male parts were played by women. It either wasn't very good or I just couldn't wrap my head around a female king. Turned over to the murder mysteries. There were three. The Father Brown episode I remembered from last year. Sister Boniface was new but would be reaired tomorrow afternoon. Then it was an Agatha Christie Poirot mystery which I had seen just last Thursday. So problem solved. I read a book.
