Winter Naif

My heel is improving.  In the morning, before I get out of bed, I play a game on my phone while I do one of the foot exercises the doc suggested.  Reminds me of the dog's stretching routine before we go out on the morning's constitutional.  My sister also suggested I wear shoes in the house instead of running around in stockinged feet.  So got on-line to see what was available.  Found some wonderful shoes that are made of ethylene vinyl acetate with high stretch EVA and ultra-soft plush lining.  They are anti-slip, waterproof, adjustable heel strap, inexpensive, super soft, lightweight, fit perfectly, etc. etc. etc.  They do have one drawback that I haven't resolved yet.  When I walk even a few steps in the house, I've built up such an imbalance of electrical charge that coming close to anything metallic results in a sparking discharge.  That happens most often w/ the screws that keep every light switch cover in place and the gate between the foyer and the kitchen,   To save my fingertips I've taken to turning lights on w/ my sleeve and opening the gate w/ my foot.   While I try to 'discharge' myself before touching the dog & cats, bless them, they also endure the occasional zap on the nose.  I'm sure the problem of static electricity buildup is exacerbated by the low humidity in the house this time of year.  I'll figure out an easy fix sooner or later.  In the meantime I will need to remember never to go out on the deck w/ these shoes during a thunderstorm.
